Our naturally crafted Citronella Java Pure Essential Oil is steam distilled from the tall, green blades of grass, also popularly known as Citronella Grass, growing wild in Indonesia. Citronella Essential Oil has a medium-strength sweet, citrusy, lemony, woodsy aroma presenting a top-middle fragrance note. It blends especially well with essential oils in the citrus, floral, wood, grass, and herbaceous families.

There are two commong types of Citronella, the Java and the Ceylon. In the 19th century, a man named Winter (supposedly an important distiller in Ceylon) recognized the taxonomic differences between several varieties of Cymbopogon nardus and raised a separate population of the variety 'Maha Pengiri' now called Cymbopogon winterianus. This Citronella Java Pure Essential Oil extracted from Citronella Java grass, which is particularly sought after by natural perfumists due to its lovely, complex aromatic profile. It has a fresh, powerful, lemon-like scent and is higher in Citronellal and Citronellol than the Ceylon or Citronella Nardus variety. This means that the antiseptic and antimicrobial actions will be more powerful and therefore the deodorizing effects will also be more effective.
